of all the opportunities afforded to me from the sacrifices of my family and those that came before them. Being First-Gen. is not a label of deficit, but a point of pride as it demonstrates the overwhelming grit, dedication, and passion for pursuing a brighter future despite the odds. I am beyond humbled at the opportunity to work with First-Gen. student populations at Illinois as helping them navigate the implicit assumptions and expectations of higher education has proven to be the most rewarding experience of my career and personal development.
